Transportation for the Elderly

About Me

Transportation for the Elderly

Hi. My name’s Betty. I’m sixty-two years old and live with my husband, Matt. My mother lives on our property, but at age ninety-one still insists on living alone. Mom has a good mind and for her age does well physically. She drove up until four years ago when we all decided it would be best for her to not be behind the wheel. It’s worked out well with her living on our property. Matt or I would take her places. We made sure she had groceries, made it to doctors appointments, and to her social engagements. About six months ago, however, Matt fell ill and our lives changed. I am his full-time caregiver, and Matt can no longer drive. I had to find help for my Mom which was difficult to do. I am going to share what I found and hope it helps you should you ever need transportation.

2 Questions To Ask Before Renting A Charter Bus For Your Family Reunion Trip

If you have been put in charge of planning your upcoming family reunion, you may have decided that it would be nice to take a trip to a local scenic or historical spot. To help with transportation, you may have decided that everyone should meet at a central location and be taken to the reunion spot together on a charter bus. Before renting a charter bus for your trip, start your information-seeking task by asking a couple of questions so that you what to expect.

1.  Are Snacks and Drinks Allowed on the Bus?

One thing you may want to ask about is food and drinks. Does the bus rental service allow snacks and drinks on the bus? Or do they provide food and drinks as part of their service or for an extra fee?

Especially if you know that you will be on the bus for more than a couple of hours, you may want to make sure that there are plenty of snacks and drinks. This is especially important if there are children or older adults who may need extra nourishment or fluids.

If the service does offer food and drink service, ask them if you get to choose from a list. Also, inquire as to whether or not there is an extra fee for trash cleanup. If so, make sure that you bring extra garbage bags to ensure that all trash is disposed of.

2.  What Amenities Are Available for Entertainment?

Another thing that you may want to ask about is amenities. Besides ensuring that there are restrooms on the bus or that the route plans for bathroom breaks, you may also want to know about entertainment offerings. Are televisions and DVD players available? If not, does the bus feature outlets and/or Wi-Fi for your own devices?

While the adults may be content with talking and catching up with each other, children may start to get impatient on a long trip. Making sure that there are options for entertaining them can help prevent them from becoming bored and fidgety while on the bus ride to and from the reunion site.

Knowing whether or not snacks and drinks are allowed as well as any entertainment options can help you know what to expect on the bus and help you plan ahead for your upcoming family reunion trip. For more information about other amenities and services, speak with a representative with the charter bus rental company.
